Hokuō® From Concept to Creation: The Story Behind Nagomi

Let me tell you about Nagomi.

Nagomi was created after I imported a female Shiba Inu named Ume last year. Like my other dogs, she came from Japan, where their approach to raising dogs differs from what we’re used to.

When Ume arrived, she was highly stressed, anxious, and constantly on edge—unlike any of my other imports. I tried everything—medications from the vet, therapy, and various techniques—but nothing helped. She just couldn’t relax, and without relaxation, it’s nearly impossible to build a real connection.

I decided to give it time, hoping things would improve, but after months with no change, I turned to researching herbs and natural remedies.

That’s when I discovered the ingredients that would become Nagomi. Desperate to help her, I had a sample made, and within three days, I saw a change. Ume became calmer, and for the first time, we connected.

I used Nagomi daily—sometimes in double doses and multiple times a day. After a week, we were finally able to train and bond the way I strive to with all my dogs.

Thanks to Ume, Nagomi was born. In this post, you can see two very different sides of her. I can’t capture everything in a short video, but I’m so proud of how far she’s come and where she’s headed.

Dex’s story highlights the power of Nagomi. Dex, a Shiba Inu who endured a tough start in life, was fearful of thunderstorms, fireworks, loud noises, and even flying insects. His adoptive family tried everything to ease his anxiety, but nothing worked—until they found Nagomi. After using it daily for a month, Dex finally slept through a thunderstorm. His fears still appear but are much less intense and pass more quickly now. His family is incredibly grateful and recommends Nagomi to anyone with an anxious dog.

While Nagomi won’t make challenges disappear on its own—training plays a key role—it can support your pet in stressful situations, giving you the opportunity to start building that important bond.
